Moses Trim is referenced from Robert Sheldon Trim files found at the Boston Gen Society as dates 1715-1763 dies in Conn. This Moses first appears on Poll in 1738. A Moses Trim is recorded in 1764 and in 1765 as removed from town on Block Island. There is no indication of what prompted this action. You might assume the Moses Trim referred to here would be son of the Moses born in 1715 and died 1763 but it is possible that Moses was a child of one of Moses' brothers such as Robert. There are 3 other Trims listed in Robert Trim files that are in Conn. They are Matthias 1743, John 1738, and Ezra 1750. They could all be sons of Moses Trim. Moses Trim was from Lyme, CT and Mehitable Pendle was from Bolton, CT. Mehitable was born in 1714, the daughter of John Pendle and Elizabeth Carpenter. Moses and Mehitable were married in 1737. Their children were: John Trim, born 1738; Elizabeth Trim, born 1740 or 1741; Mathias Trim, born 1743; Katherine Trim, born 1744, Mary Trim, born 1746; and Ezra Trim, born 1750. The children were baptized at the Congregational Church in Bolton, CT. Moses Trim and his family moved to Pawling, Dutchess County, N. In about 1762 or 1763, they went with the Susquehenna Company to a settlement in northeastern Pennsylvania on the Delaware River--a place called Lackawaxen--where several members of this family, excluding Moses Trim and Ezra (age 13), were killed in Oct. of 1763 when the Delaware Indians raided the settlement. Ezra Trim was taken hostage, and turned back to the British at Old Fort Niagara, NY in July of 1764. After his release, Ezra Trim returned to Dutchess County, New York. Moses Trim, Ezra's father, also returned to Dutchess County, and was alive in 1790, according to the U.S. Census of 1790. Source: Alicemhall46, http://boards.ancestry.co.uk/thread.aspx?mv=flat&m=74&p=surnames.trim I have a Moses Trim born on Block Island RI. He was born 1715 and died 1763 and is said to have gone to CT. He would probably be your Trim ancestor. The Trim line seems to start on Block Island and Moses goes to CT, Christopher Jr. to MA and his line to NY and Godfrey, son of Robert goes to Islesborough. Not lots of help here but Moses might be the name you are looking for. From: Gladys Mahlmeister, Trim Family Genealogy Forum, http://genforum.genealogy.com/trim/messages/375.html "I find that Moses Trim who appears in recrords there in 1738 goes to Conn. His parents would be Christopher Trim and Elizabeth Redding who married in Dorchester 27 Sept 1700. Looking at the catalog I find Moses 1715-1763 (Conn) and several other Moses up to 1873. Hope this helps. Let me know if you need other info, I have copies of some old records that we found on our trips."
